Children’s laughter on the adjacent playground and the joy of a family picnicking in the park might be interrupted by the sound of a huge diesel engine, just back from carrying coal to the Fayette Power Plant, and by the sound of its whistle as it goes through town. You might want to end your visit with a stroll up Smithville’s historic Main Street, or a drive through its Historical Residential District before you enjoy dining nearby. The Gazebo and Railroad Park are also available for weddings and parties. Inquire at the Smithville Chamber of Commerce at [512] 237-2313 or email the Chamber. |
